Other_Art

There are times when I want to branch out into other mediums and those I have put here.  I really enjoyed painting these little plaster Christmas ornaments.  Picking different colors and paint types as fun.

I also got a wild hair and tried something I saw in a book.  I took shredded paper from our paper shredder and basically glued them to various bowl shapes, then painted them.    It was messier and more work than I expected but I think they turned out well.

I tried making some cheesecloth ghosts.  Turns out I didn’t use enough glue in the mix so they didn’t last as long as I’d like but they made it through the holiday before collapsing.  They look good in the pictures though.

Misc_Quilling

This category contains anything that didn’t neatly fit into the other categories.   Most are my designs, however, some are from classes and books as I learned how to do quilling.  The medium varies from small refrigerator magnets, straw hats, to window sun catchers to small mirrors, free standing and even some trials with resign that look good in pictures but have flaws when viewed in person.

In 2008 Pat Caputo produced a calendar with Accord Publishing by getting submissions from friends and NAQG members.  I was lucky enough to have 2 pieces selected.  One was the hummingbird mobile and the other was the dragonfly mobile. My dragonfly even made the cover of the box.

Mobiles

The mobiles are very popular.  I started with a plain top then changed to a partially quilled top.  The blue angels were created for a NAQG competition and I’m proud to say it took 3rd Place.  I had fun creating the humming birds, dragonflies, cats and angels to create into mobiles.  They are about 12 inches tall.

Plants

The plants are very popular and are fun to make as you can make almost anything and then find something very similar in real life.  The potted plants are from 1/2 an inch to 2 1/2 inches.  The palm trees are my design, the trunks are woven with 1/4 inch paper and are about 4 to 6 inches tall.

The basket of flowers at the beginning of the gallery contain some flowers made by the ladies who attended the NAQG meeting I held in San Diego in 2005.

Jewelry

These are various sizes but are no bigger than 2 inches long or in diameter.  The black background necklaces are from Quilled Creations.  The silver locket is about the size of a quarter and is from Origami Owl.
